Monthly get-together: A group of cooks get together monthly(ish!) in each others’ homes, usually on a Sunday afternoon, to teach each other how to prepare a traditional dish/meal, which is then eaten together.

The cook leading the workshop prepares a recipe sheet and guides everyone through new techniques, flavours and ways of eating. Some cooks show slides of their home culture, bring images of their home or show a map of where they live, so everyone can learn about new and very different traditions and cultures.

Cooks who join this group don’t have to do the CIEH award – though it helps if you do! – or do catering or big events. Several of our cooks just love cooking and want to learn about other traditions and food customs in the comfort of each others’ homes.

So far, cooks from Japan, Brazil, China, Turkey, Hungary, Bangladesh, Ukraine, Spain and Philippines have led these workshops, made friends and shared fantastic recipes.
