Come along to the YUMI Garden - get to know new people, grow international produce, learn about gardening - or simply come to enjoy the tranquility of this beautiful space!!
The community garden is an integral part of YUMI’s vision to create an intercultural York, where people from different cultures feel a sense of belonging and empowerment.

The garden is a place where people share their knowledge and recollections of growing food in their own cultures. We grow familiar plants and use them in different ways, and we also try to grow unusual plants from different cultures. We are constantly sharing, learning and growing together.

"YUMI was my saving grace. I moved to the UK from the States to get my masters. The transition was much more difficult than I had anticipated. I was shy and lonely and struggling to find a group of friends. A YUMI member invited me to attend a YUMI get-together with the cooks and it was wonderful. I would have been lost if not for the friends I met volunteering with YUMI" - Brittany, USA

And here is some of the produce we grow:

This is where YUMI Community Garden is...

    Hi Rita

Helen, our Garden Manager, is usually working at the garden on Fridays from 12 noon and on Saturdays from 10.30am. I will check with her to see if these are the times she will be there this week and ask her to contact you to confirm this. I know she will be thrilled to meet you and welcome you to the garden team! She can also add you to her weekly email list (this will let you know when she will be at the garden every week).

    Best wishes
