Candi has lived in York for over 25 years and works full time as a Conference and Facilities Manager. Having helped out at a number of Yumi events previously Candi was keen to become more involved in the organisation and her experience of charity governance as well as her passion for YUMI’s ethos means she is looking forward to helping YUMI thrive.

She has been involved in a number of organisations over the years including chairing the board of Trustees at IDAS and then a school governor, and also volunteers as an appropriate adult.

As an avid reader herself Candi was one of the founders of a local project called Bookcase for All that provides books across the city to homeless and vulnerable people. She is also a keen nature lover. As well as providing administration support to Treemendous York, a group with an aim to plant 50 000 trees across the city, she is a volunteer pony checker up at Askham Bog and a trustee for Friends of Hob Moor.

Candi is passionate about the benefits of being outdoors, and whilst only an amature gardener herself is looking forward to learning from the other volunteers, as well as being involved in an organisation that brings together three of her favourite things, Food, Reading others writing, and being outdoors!
